Hannahs’ 41 puts PA over Osceola

PINE BLUFF —Dusty Hannahs poured in 41 points to lead Pulaski Academy to a 75-58 win over Osceola in the Class 4A state tournament at Pine Bluff Convention Center Thursday.

Hannahs hit six 3-pointers as the Bruins set up Saturday’s 1:30 p.m. quarterfinal tilt against Dollarway.

Hunter Henry added 16 and Brandon Brady 13 for Pulaski Academy.

Eddie Green led the Seminoles with 17 points while Warrick Woodson chipped in 12.

GIRLS

Malvern 62, Valley View 42

Akasha Westbrook scored a game-high 22 points to lead Malvern (27-6) to a win over East No. 1 seed Valley View Thursday.

Valley View led 14-13 after the opening period and 26-25 at the half before giving way to Malvern in the third period as the Lady Leopards outscored the Lady Blazers 20-5 to take a 45-31 lead into the final stanza.

Alivia Huell added 15 points and Ayshia Walsh 12 for Malvern as he Lady Leopards advance to play Star City in the quarterfinals at noon on Saturday.

Star City beat Malvern 52-34 last Friday in Dumas at the 4A South Regional Tournament in Dumas.

Ashleigh Guthrie’s 18 points paced Valley View.

GIRLS

Jacksonville girls 58, Sheridan 44

Sheridan hung tough early but the Lady Red Devils built a 19-10 first quarter lead and rolled to the first round victory. Jacksonville, No. 3 seed from the East, plays Texarkana today at 7 p.m.

Jessica Jackson and Shakyla Hill paced Jacksonville with 14 points apiece. Nicole Bennett scored eight of her 10 in the first quarter.

Sheridan cut the lead to 27-26 at the half before being outscored 25-9 in the third.

Autumn Clark and Lauren Mitchell led the Lady Yellowjackets with 12 points apiece.
