Group seeks aid for UAPB students
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff/AM&N National Alumni Association is seeking donations to assist students who were displaced after snowstorms and low water pressure problems involving Liberty Utilities, according to a news release.
“We are totally committed to helping our students during this crisis,” said Kymara H. Seals, president and chairman of the board of the UAPB/AM&N National Alumni Association.
The alumni association is preparing to offer warm meals and other necessities to about 387 displaced students. Donors may send contributions to the Cash App account: $uapbamnalumni (UAPB/AM&N National Alum.)

Two youth cooking sessions reset
The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas rescheduled two youth cooking sessions, according to a news release.
The CrEATe Lab with Faith Anaya will be held from 1-3 p.m. Saturday and March 6. The program is open to youths ages 10-17. The CrEATe Lab costs $35 with partial scholarships available. To register, visit asc701.org/create-lab or call ASC at 870-536-3375.
Authority looking for mission hosts
The Delta Regional Authority invites authority communities to submit notices of intent to apply to host a 2023 Innovative Readiness Training medical mission.
The deadline to apply is April 30, and communities must be within the Delta Regional Authority’s eight-state region, according to a news release.
Through a partnership with the U.S. Department of Defense and the U.S. military’s reserve forces, the regional authority supports Innovative Readiness Training missions to provide free medical, dental and optical care to patients. Host communities provide local expertise, facilities and on-the-ground support, while military units contribute personnel and training resources.
To be eligible, communities must exhibit a critical need for health care providers, meet rural classification by having a population of 50,000 residents or less, and demonstrate at least one of the following: unemployment rate above the national rate during the past 24 months, per capita income of 80% or less of the national average, and/or a special need (natural or other major disaster or emergency, etc).
