The Pine Bluff Interested Citizens for Voter Registration donated $600 to schools where they mentor, according to a news release.
Recipients of the donations included the Pine Bluff District/Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson County, Watson Chapel School District Wildcat Store, Friendship Aspire Academy Elementary School and South East Pine Bluff Friendship School.
“Your support will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our scholars,” said Rebecca C. Newby, principal of Friendship Aspire Academy Elementary School. “With your contribution, we are able to ensure that every student leaves for the holiday break with a special gift from the school. This gesture will not only brighten their holidays but also serve as a reminder of the care and support they receive from our school community. We are truly grateful for your kindness and commitment to our students. Your generosity helps us create a positive and encouraging environment, and we are excited to share this gift with our scholars.”
ICVR’s goal is to enhance well-being, improve family relationships, promote academic achievement, gang resistance, reduce anti-social behavior, improve school attendance, increase community involvement, strengthen school bonding and encourage civic engagement, according to the release.
The Pine Bluff Faith Community Coalition Ministerial Alliance (faith-based mentors), Southeast Panthers Historical Society LLC and Being Brothers for Kids serve as mentoring support.
