Great American Conference basketball games that were tentatively rescheduled from Saturday to Monday have now been moved to dates in February.
The changes come due to ongoing hazardous winter conditions across Oklahoma and Arkansas, the NCAA Division II conference cited.
Among the postponed matchups for both women and men are the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s games at Arkansas Tech, now set for Feb. 9. Also rescheduled for that date are Ouachita Baptist at Harding and Southern Arkansas at Henderson State.
Games moved to Feb. 16 include East Central at Southern Nazarene, Southeastern Oklahoma State at Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State at Oklahoma Baptist.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
Each of the women’s games are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by men’s action at 7:30 p.m., as normal.
“The historic winter weather event impacting our region has made competition unsafe for this weekend and the immediate start of next week,” Great American Commissioner Will Prewitt said in a news release.
UAM’s men’s team is coming off a 68-57 home win over Southern Arkansas on Thursday. Southern Arkansas’ women’s team beat UAM 77-75 in double overtime that evening.
The UAM teams are scheduled to face Southern Nazarene this Thursday in Bethany, Okla., and Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee the following Saturday.
