Grand Prairie Quilt Society holds December meeting

The Grand Prairie Quilt Society met Dec. 10 at the First Christian Church fellowship hall in Stuttgart for its Christmas party and potluck. The leader opened the meeting with the Thought for the Day, the Quilter’s Psalm, according to a news release.

The November minutes and treasurer’s report were given. December birthday greetings were extended to four members. They were serenaded with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.” Everyone also tried solving a “Quilter’s” Word Find Puzzle.

During Show and Share, a member displayed a throw her friend’s grandmother made years ago. It had a piecing style the members had not seen before, leading to speculation as to how it had been put together.

After the business session, the members retired to the game table to try their hand at the “Left/Right” game.

“Much merriment ensued as everyone endeavored to remember which was their right and which was their left,” according to the release.

A member won the last toss and shared her winnings with everyone.

The members then had a potluck lunch with all the goodies and with lots of visiting. Christmas plans were discussed with hopes of seeing family and friends.

The next meeting will be a Sit ‘n’ Sew on Jan. 14. Visitors are urged to bring their projects and a sack lunch and join the group.
