Pine Bluff took three of the first four places in the boys high-point standings at the Andrew Butler Relays on Monday at Alexander Field.
The meet was moved from Friday because of rain in the area. When the sun shined Monday, so did Pine Bluff’s Patrick Grady, who earned 30.5 points and won two events en route to the high-point award.
Lamarcus Taggart was second with 24.5 points and Deandre Gridley was fourth with 20 points for Pine Bluff, which finished second to North Little Rock 150-148 for the team victory. Camden Fairview was a distant third with 80, while Monticello (41), Watson Chapel (29) and Sheridan (19) took sixth, seventh and ninth, respectively.
The girls team race was a little more decisive, with Camden Fairview beating North Little Rock 164-122. Pine Bluff was fourth with 68, and Monticello was sixth with 55.
Gridley won the 110-meter hurdles in 15.5 seconds, more than 0.4 ahead of Camden Fairview’s Jaimie Smith and Pine Bluff’s Shomari Center, who were second and third. He and Tyrus Evans teamed for a 1-2 Zebras finish in the 300 hurdles; Gridley’s winning time was 41.85 seconds.

Grady continued to stand out in the distance races, winning the 1,600-meter run in 4:57.22 and the 3,200 in 11:08.53. He was exactly 2 seconds ahead of Little Rock J.A. Fair’s Roosevelt Barnett Jr. Zach Williams was third for Monticello.
Grady was second in the 800.
Taggart won the triple jump with a distance of 41 feet, 10 inches, and took second in the long jump. The Zebras’ 4×800-meter team won its event in 8:38.34, almost 15 seconds faster than runner-up North Little Rock.
Kelvin Sergeant and Bryan Terry were second and third in the shot put for Pine Bluff. Sheridan’s Justin Rose won with a toss of 43 feet, 5 inches, beating Sergeant by an inch.
Watson Chapel’s Willie Sargent and Josh Balentine each ran 11.25 in the 100 dash, but Sargent was determined the third-place finisher. Balentine, however, came in second to Little Rock Parkview’s Eric Nathaniel in the 400.
In girls action, Monticello’s Rebecca Chisom won the pole vault (7 feet), Pine Bluff was second in the 4×800 and teammate Keesia Patton took the same place in the 200. Monticello’s SedreAunna Griddine came in second in the 300 hurdles.
Parkview’s Miranda Stewart scored 36 points for the girls high-point award.
The 6A-South Conference meet in El Dorado and 5A-Southeast championships in Monticello will be held Thursday. The 8-4A Conference meet began Tuesday in Hamburg with final-day action set for Thursday.
BASEBALL
Woodlawn 19, Bearden 0
WOODLAWN — Blake Brown smashed a grand slam, Dillon Miller and Daniel Rissinger also homered and Woodlawn (24-4) wrapped up their regular season with a three-inning shutout of Bearden.
Gavin Johnston gave up one hit, walked none and struck out six in all three innings for the win. At the plate, Bret Boyd was 3 for 3, Johnston 2 for 2, and Trey Hankins and Dillon Miller 2 for 3 apiece.
Woodlawn will begin 7-2A East Conference tournament play Saturday. Its opponent and game time have yet to be announced.
Star City 15, Nashville 8
MAGNOLIA — Star City pounded out 15 runs on 20 hits in a 15-8 win over Nashville at Southern Arkansas’ stadium on Tuesday.
Star City (14-8) went 20-36 at the plate and had four hitters with three hits — Jake Carr, Zach House, Hunter Johnson and Dagan Levengood.
House threw five innings and struck out five to get the win for the Bulldogs.
Star City plays at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at Dollarway.
Cam. Harmony Grove 13, Drew Central 3
MONTICELLO — Drew Central dropped an 8-3A Conference outing at home on Tuesday to Camden Harmony Grove.
J.C. Adair led Drew Central at the plate with a pair of singles, Will Jackson doubled and drove in a run and Aaron Goad added an RBI single.
Drew Central’s season will conclude at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Fordyce, the final prep game for Adair, the team’s lone senior.
