Grace Episcopal plans Blessing of the Animals

Grace Episcopal Church, 4101 S. Hazel St., will host a Blessing of the Animals at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8. The event will be held in front of the church. If it rains, the session will be held inside, according to a news release.

All animals and owners are invited, however pets need to be on leashes or in carriers, according to the release.

“This is a wonderful opportunity to share your love of animals with others,” according to the release. “St. Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of animals and loved all living creatures great and small. In his honor and remembrance, blessings will be held around the world.”

There will be refreshments for animals, adults and children. People may also bring a food donation for the humane society or the local animal shelter.

Donna Waugh of the Arkansas Search and Rescue Dog Association and her crew of dogs and people will also attend the Blessing of the Animals.

“This group has always been there in emergencies when needed and will be for others in the future,” according to the release.
