A Pine Bluff man was one of eight people from across the state that Gov. Mike Beebe has announced he intends to pardon.
Gary Weeks was convicted of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver in 1974 in Lincoln County. He has completed all terms of his sentence and there have been no further law violations. There are no law enforcement objections to the application.
The governor denied 49 additional requests and there was no action taken on an additional 20 applications that were made by both inmates and non-inmates.
All the applicants approved for a pardon have completed all their jail time, fulfilled all parole and probationary requirements and paid all fines related to their sentences.
There is a 30-day waiting period to receive public feedback on the pardons before final action is taken.
