GOP announces filing information, sets meeting

The Jefferson County Republican Committee recently announced the filing period and fees and plans for a meeting.

The filing for the May 22 preferential primary begins at noon Thursday, Feb. 22. GOP county committee secretary Jan Adam will be in the courthouse rotunda beginning at 11 a.m. to accept filing fees and notarize documents for Republican candidates. Required forms will be available.

Filing fees for Republican candidates are: county judge, sheriff, assessor, county and circuit clerks, tax collector, coroner, and surveyor – $300 for four year terms; justice of the peace – $100; constable – $50; and Pine Bluff municipal offices – $50.

Adam can be contacted at 536-6500 to make arrangements to pay the filing fee and complete documents, according to a news release.

Candidates and anyone desiring to file for new or renewed county committee membership can do so at the GOP meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Larry’s Pizza at White Hall. Republican gubernatorial candidate Jan Morgan will be the speaker.

The agenda will also include acceptance of county committee membership renewals, and finalization of March 27 Lincoln-Reagan Dinner plans and ticket sales. A few $49 dinner tickets are still available.

Filing at this meeting is a one-time opportunity. Members not renewing during the filing period must wait until May 23 to renew membership, according to the release.
