The offense remained hot Saturday for the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff as the Golden Lions clinched their second weekend series of the season.
The UAPB baseball team run-ruled National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics foe Arkansas Baptist 15-1 in seven innings at the Torii Hunter Baseball Complex in Pine Bluff.
UAPB (5-2) clinched the four-game series with this win after sweeping Friday’s doubleheader. The series will end at 1 p.m. today.
Courtney Allen got UAPB on the board in the first inning with a 2-RBI double. The Golden Lions went on to add 5 runs in the second and scored in every inning but the fifth.
Allen hit 2-for-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs. Carlos Rodriguez-Velez and Malachi Jeffries each had 2 RBIs. Besides Allen, four other Lions scored twice.
Jaedon Willis (1-0) pitched the first 5.1 innings, giving up 1 unearned run on two hits. He had five strikeouts and three walks. The Buffaloes scored their only run on a passed ball in the third inning.
UAPB outhit Arkansas Baptist 12-2. The Buffaloes committed five errors while UAPB had none.
