GFPB is a mess
Editor, The Commercial:
Do current Pine Bluff headlines have the feel of GFPB trying to make one more run at funding their now dwindling treasure chest?
Maybe they want us to forget about the good bit of change ($) spent on the now washed-out Go-Kart Track, to name just one. One has to wonder if the head of GFPB (?) puts more planning into his private investments, since it is his money.

The half-cocked planning going into the city’s growth plans is inexcusable! Gee whiz. And all the talk of GFPB (?) leading to prosperity for Pine Bluff. Or was that prosperity just for those select few and their personal projects in Pine Bluff, not prosperity for Pine Bluff proper?
There is some comfort, however, from one of Pine Bluff’s renewed recreation efforts. Almost two years after the grand re-opening, Harbor Oaks Golf Course has a telephone number … kinda. Folks, if you’re not familiar with this golf course, it is a sleeping treasure!
Team it up with the casino and we’re talking about a nice golf package — visitors spending money, business meeting getaways, etc. Maybe we can get the golf package included in the projects we’re now paying a consultant hired to find restaurants that want to make money in Pine Bluff. Oh, and if you hadn’t noticed, our powers to be have overseen another eatery to close.
Our dilemma kinda compares to the decision that goes into purchasing a car. That SUV with the big shiny grill would sure be nice to style around in. However, getting something that doesn’t blow the budget, gets twice the fuel mileage, while providing a comfortable ride, sure makes more sense in the long run.
And on top of that, you have some change left over for a decent evening out on the town.
Pine Bluff! What are we doing? Just how many city-/county-funded organizations does it take to cater and assist to help our Pine Bluff business partners grow? Well, from the long list of flops, we know for sure it doesn’t need to include the dysfunctional mess represented as GFPB.
