General to speak at UAPB April 28

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will host General Muhammad Tahir as part of their Middle Eastern Studies speaker series program.

The free, public event will be held at 11 a.m.Thursday, April 28, at the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts building.

Tahir will discuss the papers he wrote on the environment in Pakistan and the South Asian Region. Presently, Tahir is a senior member of the executive council of Nazaria Pakistan Council Awane Quaid Islamabad and Educational Consultant with National Commission for Human Development. His area of special interest is English literature and Inter Faith and Inter Cultural Dialogue.

Tahir served in the Pakistan Army for 35 years and earned the award of Hilal-e–Imtiaz (Military) for meritorious service. He is a graduate of the Pakistan Military Academy, Kakul, a graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta, National Defense University Islamabad, a Distinguished Graduate of Command and Staff College Egypt, and an Honor Graduate of Fort Sill, Oklahoma.

Tahir holds several degrees, including a Master of Arts degree in English literature from Punjab University, MSc in War Studies from Egypt, and MSc in Defense and Strategic Studies from Quaid e Azam University Islamabad.
