Friendship District Ladies’ Auxiliary meets

The Friendship Missionary Baptist Association District Ladies’ Auxiliary met Oct. 11 at Southside Missionary Baptist Church of Star City.

“Blessed Assurance” was the hymn that opened the quarterly meeting. Thirty-three women and visitors attended the session.

President Sandra Crofford of Southside asked for prayer requests and called on James Calhoun from First Missionary Baptist Church of Cave City to lead the prayer.

During the business session, Secretary-treasurer Donna Collins conducted a roll call of churches and read the minutes.

Bethel #2 Church of Herbine was announced as the Jan. 10, 2019, meeting place, and the mission goal was selected as Missionary to France Anthony Phillips.

Officers who will serve in 2019 were elected as follows: President — Mildred Carter (Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas); Vice President — Mary Kay Norris (Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Rison); Secretary-treasurer — Barbara Curry (Southside MBC, Star City); Assistant Secretary-treasurer — Eloise Raley (Center Missionary Baptist Church of Rowell); and Reporter — Barbara Brown (Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church of Palmyra).

Following prayer led by Julius Carter of Calvary church, an offering was received for the Arkansas State Missionaries’ salaries.

For the program, the women of Southside presented a skit entitled, “We’re Women,” and a member sang “All the Way My Savior Leads Me.”

The speaker was Beverly Burchfield of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church of Monticello, who spoke on “Love” and concluded by singing “Let Your Love Flow Through Me.”

After announcements and closing prayer by “Sluggo” Norris of Macedonia church, the congregation had a meal of soup, sandwiches, and desserts provided by Southside.
