The Friendship District Ladies’ Auxiliary met Jan. 9 at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
Mildred Carter presided over the meeting. The group opened the meeting with a song of praise, “He Set Me Free,” and prayer by Mike Powell.
The welcome was given by Maybelle Green from Shady Grove and the response was by Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. The prayer requests included Sluggo Norris, Myrtle Herrington and Bethlehem church, according to a spokeswoman.
A program was given by the women of Shady Grove titled “Finding Joy in Jesus.”
“Their message was 1 – Keep your focus on Jesus, 2 – Make a list of your blessings, 3 – Break away from chaos, 4 – We have to survive (survival kit: We have to love everybody), 5 – Sing praises, 6 – Be kind,” according to the spokeswoman.

The group sang three congregational hymns after the program.
Roll call was conducted by Barbara Curry. Six auxiliaries — 29 women, two preachers, and two visitors for a total of 33 were present.
Offering was taken by Mike Powell and Julius Carter. The group collected $361, which was given to Kyle and Holly Foster, missionaries to Jerusalem.
Praise and Thanksgiving was given by Mike Powell through his sermon. Powell was introduced by Stephen Stone. Powell brought a message titled “Finding Your Joy in Jesus.” Right hand of appreciation to the speaker was given by Center Missionary Baptist Church.
After a closing prayer and blessing on the food, lunch was served in the fellowship hall.
The next meeting will be held April 9 at Center MBC. The new offering goal for that meeting will go to the auxiliary’s state goal.
