Free income tax preparation to be held Saturday

The last day to file income taxes is Tuesday and a free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site will be offered to residents in Pine Bluff and surrounding areas.

The event will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave.

Interested Citizens for Voter Registration will host the event with volunteers certified by the Internal Revenue Service.

VITA offers free income tax filing services to individuals and families with an annual earned income of $50,000 and below.

Participants should bring:

• Social Security numbers for the tax filer and dependents

• Photo ID of the tax filer

• W-2s for all jobs the tax filer held in 2011

• Form 1099s (1099-G, 1099-MISC, 1099-INT, etc.)

• Form 1098-T (tuition expenses)

• Form 1098 (mortgage interest payment)

• Documentation of childcare expenses and childcare provider information (agency ID or SSN of the provider)

• Voided check or deposit slip for direct deposit of the income tax refund

• If you are filing Married Jointly, both taxpayers need to be present at the Saturday event.
