Justice of the Peace Lloyd Franklin Jr. announced endorsements for the District 5 seat.
Franklin is facing Jimmy Fisher Sr. for the position on the Jefferson County Quorum Court. The primary election is March 5.
Franklin received endorsements from former county judges Booker Clemons and Dutch King as well as several current county officers.
These include Sheriff Lafayette Woods Jr., County Clerk Shawndra Taggart, Tax Collector Tony Washington, Treasurer Vonysha Goodwin, Coroner Chad Kelley, Assessor Gloria Tillman and Circuit Clerk Flora Cook Bishop, according to a news release.
“In these troubling times, the media would have people to believe that nothing is getting accomplished in Jefferson County,” Franklin said in the release. “I must be doing something right to receive endorsements from two former county judges and nearly every current county-wide elected official. Give one of those county officials a call and ask them about my track record. I stand on accountability, transparency and fairness.”
