Foodbank awards equipment to agencies, including 1 in PB

LITTLE ROCK — The Arkansas Foodbank has awarded $160,000 worth of freezers, walk-in coolers and other warehouse equipment to church food pantries and other hunger agencies, including one in Pine Bluff.

Agencies receiving trailers are the Share a Prayer Ministries of Pine Bluff, Faith Fellowship Church Food Pantry of Hot Springs, Revival Center Church of God in Christ of Helena, Friendly Chapel of North Little Rock, the Full Gospel Outreach Ministry of Montrose and Soul Food Cafe Mission of Conway.

Grants were announced by CEO Phyllis Haynes and Dianne Williams, the foodbank’s chief program officer. The vans are a continuation of infrastructure improvements that were funded by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation following the construction of the foodbank’s new distribution center, the 70,000-sq.-ft. warehouse that opened a year ago at 4301 W. 65th St. in Little Rock.

The foodbank serves about 300 food pantries, shelters, school-based feeding programs and soup kitchens in a 33-county service area in central and south Arkansas. The Arkansas Foodbank is the largest nongovernment provider of donated food in Arkansas. It is a member of the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance.
