Food Safety Oct. 26

The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

Here are recent reports:

MANI & JAY LLC dba PINE BLUFF AND FOOD JUNCTION, 3513 Market St. Date of inspection Oct. 21. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. Observed no hand soap at hand washing sink. Provide an adequate supply of hand cleanser (liquid, powder or bar) at each handwashing sink. Correct on site. Inside of the ice maker has an accumulation of debris. EQUIPMENT FOOD-CONTACT SURFACES and UTENSILS shall be clean to sight and touch. Observed boxes stored directly on the floor. Food must be stored six inches above the floor to be in compliance with established regulations. Observation: Drink area has an accumulation of food debris. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.

CITY OF WABBASEKA, 100 S. Paw Paw Road, Wabbaseka. Date of inspection Oct. 21. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. Observation: Observed counter top unclean and needs to be cleaned. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Cleaned during time of inspection.

C B MARKET, P.O. Box 121, Wabbaseka. Date of inspection Oct. 21. Observed pickles stored directly on floor. Food must be stored six inches above the floor to be in compliance with established regulations. Observation: Walls are soiled in kitchen area. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.

WENDY’S, 2909 W. 28th Ave. Date of inspection into complaint Oct. 22. No violations pertaining to complaint noted during time of inspection.

J-MART STORE Address: 13800 Dollarway Road, White Hall. Date of follow-up inspection Oct. 22. Ice machine interior is damaged and needs to be repaired. No test strips observed in establishment. Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions. Floors in the establishment are unclean, especially in the kitchen area. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean. Observed some floor tiles and ceiling tiles damaged in the kitchen area. The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair. Establishment owner said that repairs and cleaning are still to be done in the store since new ownership.

BIG D’S EATERY, 2512 E. Harding Ave., Ste A. Date of opening inspection Oct. 22. Establishment is okay to operate.

AUDUBON SCHOOL, 2206 Ridgway Road. Date of inspection Oct. 22. Observed boxes stored directly on floor in walk-in freezer. Food must be stored six inches above the floor to be in compliance with established regulations. Boxes were moved during time of inspection. Observed wiping cloths laying on cart. Wiping cloths shall be used as intended and in compliance with Regulations pertaining to Retail Food establishment. Cloths were placed in sanitize solution during time of inspection.
