Food Safety May 25

The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

Here are recent reports:

WING STOP, 5401 S. Olive St., Suite 200. Date of inspection May 20. Observed trash cans containing food residue being stored uncovered when not in continuous use. Trash cans containing food residue should be kept covered when not in continuous use.

TRINITY ANNEX , 2900 W. Sixth Ave. Date of inspection May 20. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. Observed wiping cloths laying in sink. Wiping cloths shall be used as intended and in compliance with Regulations pertaining to Retail Food establishment. Observation: Observed an accumulation of food residue on table. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.

SONIC DRIVE IN, 2407 Olive St. Date of inspection May 20. Observed containers of food in the refrigerators and freezers being stored uncovered. Except during cooling, food shall be stored in packages, covered containers, or wrappers. Containers of food were covered during the inspection. Observed a leak in the drain pipe of the hand washing sink nearest the ware washing area. Pipe needs to be repaired. Observed a build up of residue behind the drink station in the back and around the ice machine. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean. Observed a build up of food debris/grease on the vent hood. Intake and exhaust air ducts shall be cleaned and filters changed so they are not a source of contamination by dust, dirt, or other materials.

MCDONALDS, 2819 Olive St. Date of inspection May 20. Observed a build up of food residue on the floors under the cooking equipment. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean.

BULL’S DEN GRILL mobile, 1019 W. 50th Ave. Date of inspection May 20. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM.

TACO & GRILL THE BROTHERS, 5711 Dollarway Road. Date of opening inspection May 22. Okay to operate–permit given. Refrigerators should maintain temperature at 41 degrees F or below before placing food in them.
