The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

Here are recent reports:
PAPA JOHN’S PIZZA, 3800 S. Camden Road. Date of inspection Feb. 12. Observed a box of pepperoncini stored directly on floor. Food must be stored six inches above the floor to be in compliance with established regulations. Box was removed during time of inspection.
ELIOR NORTH AMERICA @JACK ROBEY JR HIGH SCHOOL, 4101 S. Olive St. Date of inspection Feb. 13. The bottom of the milk cooler has visibly liquid residue. Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris. Hand washing sink near the office area is in disrepair. Hand washing sink should be repaired for use. The hand washing sink near the three compartment sink is being used for hand washing. Observed 0 foot candles of light in the walk in freezer. The light intensity shall be at least 10 foot candles at a distance of 30 inches above the floor in walk in refrigeration units.

DOLLAR GENERAL STORE, 8605 Dollarway Road, White Hall. Date of inspection Feb. 21. Observed a leak in the pipes under the hand washing sink in the restroom. Pipes should be repaired.
ADDI’S CORNER 2, 101 N. Blake St. Date of inspection Feb. 21. No paper towels at the hand washing sink in the men’s and women’s restroom. Provide a supply of individual disposable towels or a continuous towel system that supplies the user with a clean towel or a heated-air drying device at each handwashing sink in food preparation, toilet and ware washing areas. Paper towels were provided at the hand washing sinks during the time of inspection. Some ceiling tiles throughout the establishment are damaged. The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair. Permit has expired. It is unlawful to operate a retail food establishment without a valid permit. Contact the billing office at 501-661-2171 to ensure that you are in compliance with the law. Permit was paid online during the inspection.
TROPICAL SMOOTHIE CAFE, 502 Mallard Loop Ste E. Date of inspection Feb. 24. Observed an unlabeled spray bottle containing a chemical by the service sink. Working containers used for storing POISONOUS OR TOXIC MATERIALS such as cleaners and SANITIZERS taken from bulk supplies shall be clearly and individually identified with the common name of the material. The bottle of chemical was labeled during the inspection. Observed a used wiping cloth sitting on the counter top by a prep area. Wiping cloths shall be used as intended and in compliance with Regulations pertaining to Retail Food establishment. Wiping cloth was moved during the inspection.
LITTLE CAESAR’S, 2300 W. 28th Ave. Date of inspection Feb. 24. Observed buckets of sauce being stored on the floor in the walk in cooler. Food shall be protected from contamination by storing in a clean dry location where it is not exposed to splash, dust, or other contamination and at least 6 inches above the floor. Buckets of sauce were moved off of the floor during the inspection. Observed used wiping cloths being stored on the counter tops in the kitchen. Wiping cloths shall be used as intended and in compliance with Regulations pertaining to Retail Food establishment. Wiping cloths were moved during the inspection. Observed a leak in the pipe at the bottom of the hand washing sink by the three compartment sink. The pipe should be repaired so that it does not leak.
