Food Safety Jan. 19

The Arkansas Department of Health regulates the sale of food at establishments that include restaurants, bars, day cares, schools, grocery stores, convenience stores, bed and breakfast facilities, hotels/motels, mobile units and concession stands. Inspections are made unannounced by environmental health specialists.

Here are recent reports:

MILL TOWN COFFEE CO. White Hall, 7003 Dollarway Road, Ste. 2, White Hall. Date of opening inspection Jan. 8, 2025. No test strips observed in the establishment during the inspection. Test strips must be available and used to test the strength of chemical sanitizing solutions. Test strips should be available before opening. Restroom doors in ware washing area and in the dining area are not self-closing. A toilet room located on the PREMISES shall be completely enclosed and provided with a tight-fitting and self-closing door. Refrigerators not plugged in during the time of the inspection should maintain a temperature of 41 degrees F or below before placing food in them.

SUPER 8, 3008 Market St. Date of inspection Jan. 13. Observed coffee ground being stored uncovered in the cabinets. Except during cooling, food shall be stored in packages, covered containers, or wrappers. Coffee grounds were covered during the inspection.

MEME’S LEARNING ACADEMY-Pine Bluff, 708 W. Second Ave. Date of opening inspection Jan. 13. Establishment is okay to operate.

GOOD SHEPHERD CHILDCARE & PRES, 1021 E. Second Ave. Date of inspection Jan. 13. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM.

DOLLAR TREE, 2709 E. Harding Ave. Date of inspection Jan. 13. Observed an opening under the front doors to the establishment. All outer openings of a food establishment should be protected against the entry of insects and rodents. Observed some debris on the ceiling in the dry storage area. Clean the physical facilities as often as necessary to keep them clean. Observed some ceiling tiles missing or damaged that need to be replaced. The PHYSICAL FACILITIES shall be maintained in good repair.

CHICKEN CITY, 7197 Sheridan Road, Ste. 112, White Hall. Date of inspection Jan. 14. Observed a leak in the pipes under the hand washing sink in the restroom. Pipes should be repaired to prevent leak. Observed 0 foot candles light intensity in the restroom. At least 20 foot candles at a distance of 30 inches above the floor in restrooms needed.

LYBRANDS BAKERY, 2900 Hazel St. Date of inspection Dec. 13. At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. Milk (46 degrees F), chicken salad (42 degrees F), and yeast (47 degrees F) in the reach in pastry cooler is out of safe temperature. Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) Foods shall be kept cold at a temperature of 41.0°F or below, as measured by an internal probe thermometer, to limit bacterial growth.

At least one EMPLOYEE that has supervisory and management responsibility and the authority to direct and control FOOD preparation and service shall be a certified FOOD protection manager who has shown proficiency of required information through passing a test that is part of an ACCREDITED PROGRAM. 22 3-501.15 PF Observation: Observed cold hold in meat area not holding temperature. (46F) Foods shall be kept cold at a temperature of 41.0°F or below, as measured by an internal probe thermometer, to limit bacterial growth. Meat was discarded during time of inspection. Observed greens stored directly on floor in produce area. Food must be stored six inches above the floor to be in compliance with established regulations. Greens were removed during time of inspection. Observation: Observed an accumulation of food debris on shelves in the establishment. Corrective Action: Nonfood contact surfaces shall be kept free of an accumulation of dust, dirt, food residue, and other debris.
