Food poisoning has been blamed for causing more than 350 inmates to be sick at Tucker Prison over the weekend, according to the Department of Correction.
Prison spokeswoman Shea Wilson said the Arkansas Department of Health determined that chicken salad that was served over the weekend was the culprit, but they have not yet pinpointed what component of the dish was responsible.
Wilson said 357 inmates were identified as showing symptoms of food poisoning, with most of them well now and a small number still recovering.
Five inmates scheduled for parole Monday were held because they showed symptoms of the disease. They were released Wednesday and visitation to the prison should resume Saturday.
Wilson said Tucker will resume transfer of inmates to other facilities, which had been suspended because of the illness on Monday.
