Flo Rida to perform at Saracen Event Center July 31

Rapper and singer Flo Rida, best known for hits like 2007’s “Low” and 2015’s “My House,” will perform at Saracen Casino Resort at 8 p.m. July 31.

Tickets for Flo Rida’s show, starting at $119 plus applicable fees, will be sold online at Ticketmaster starting at 10 a.m. Friday.

Born Tramar Dillard, the 46-year-old has been nominated for multiple awards since 2008, winning six of them including a 2008 Teen Choice Award for “Low,” a 2009 ARIA Music Award for highest selling single (“Running Back” with Jessica Mauboy) and a 2013 International Dance Music Award for “Wild Ones.”

According to a news release, Flo Rida was raised by a single mother in the Miami neighborhood of Carol City. He used music to stay on the straight path, and his father, a talented musician, encouraged him to express himself through music.

“Growing up, Flo Rida was exposed to all kinds of music, thanks in large part to his sisters, some of whom formed a local gospel group,” according to the news release. Flo Rida found local success rapping with a group called the Groundhoggz, then at 18 became the hype man for Fresh Kid Ice from 2 Live Crew.

Flo Rida caught the attention of DeVante Swing, formerly of Jodeci, and spent a few years in Los Angeles working with him. He returned home to Miami after failing to land a record deal and in late 2006 hooked up with Poe Boy Entertainment and CEO Elric “E-Class” Prince. On Dec. 20 of that year, Flo Rida signed with Atlantic Records. He went on to start his own management company, Strong Arm, with longtime friend and manager Lee “Freezy” Prince in 2009.

Together, they launched their own record label, IMG, in June 2011.

“With his musical success, Flo Rida got back to his roots of giving back and started ‘Big Dreams for Kids,’ a nonprofit foundation that is committed to inspiring future leaders,” the news release reads.

The first act at the Saracen Event Center, comedian Leslie Jones, will perform April 18.
