Flags to fly at half-staff for Korean War POW

LITTLE ROCK — Gov. Mike Beebe’s office said Friday that state and American flags will be flown at half-staff in Arkansas today to honor Master Sgt. Elwood Green of Norman, who died as a prisoner of war in North Korea in 1951.

Green was taken prisoner in November 1950 and died Feb. 18, 1951, in a POW camp in the vicinity of Punkchin-Tarigol. His remains, identified this year through DNA tests, were returned to Arkansas for burial this week.
