Five men in their early 20s were arrested and numerous guns were confiscated after a man accused them of threatening to kill him, according to the Pine Bluff Police Department.

Police reported that on July 20, a 26-year-old man reported that at around 1 a.m., he was dropping off another person at their house, near the area of 21st Avenue and Georgia Street, when a group of men stood in the street, stopping him from proceeding, both as he was entering the area and as he was leaving. Some of the men cursed him and used racial epithets with one saying the “next time I see you over here I am going to kill you,” he told police, according to a police report.

Additional police were sent to the area where they rounded up some of the individuals for questioning. Eventually, five men were arrested in connection with a charge of aggravated assault.

The men were identified as: Fredrick Hunter, 20; Javontae Shelton, 20; Jamarcus D. Brown, 23; Demetrious Mallett Jr., 20; Ashawn Henry, 21. The men were taken to the Jefferson County Detention Center and booked, according to the police report.

A number of handguns as well as an AK-47-style assault rifle were also confiscated by police.
