A house in the 1700 block of Ridgway Road was destroyed by fire early Thursday morning and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
Pine Bluff Fire and Emergency Services Chief Shauwn Howell said the single-story, wood brick home at 1701 Ridgway Road was fully engulfed when firefighters were notified by a passerby at 2:48 a.m.
Howell said there was no one at home at the time of the fire, and the weather conditions impacted the time firefighters stayed at the scene to be sure that the fire was out. There was rain, sleet and snow at the time, Howell said.
“Sometimes, when there is no one at home, the fire builds and builds inside before it burst out where someone can see it,” Howell said.
He said there were no injuries. No estimate of the cost of the damage was immediately available.
