Fight between neighbors ends in aggravated assault allegation

A man is facing an aggravated assault allegation after an ongoing fight between neighbors allegedly escalated to him pulling a gun.

Lemmie Daniels, 21, was arrested after an incident that allegedly occurred at about 5:19 p.m. Wednesday in the 1800 block of Hickory Street.

Officers were dispatched to the scene after a report of an armed disturbance between neighbors, according to an affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Chris Wieland. Officers spoke to a woman who said Daniels had been getting into verbal altercations with his neighbors for about two to three weeks. The woman said that Daniels went into his house and came outside with a handgun.

Officers then spoke with Daniels, and during the pat-down for officer safety, allegedly found a small handgun in his pocket.

Officers were able to locate the alleged victims and get statements from them. One of the alleged victims said that Daniels had been in his yard yelling at her then went back into his house and came out with a handgun, which he pointed at her. Another alleged victim said that Daniels had been yelling at them when he went in his house and came back out with a handgun. She said that Daniels told one of the other women to go get her gun so they could have a shootout in front of her grandchildren.

When officers attempted to interview Daniels the next day, he pulled out a gun and said he had his gun in self defense. He declined to answer further questions and asked for a lawyer.

In a court appearance Friday, the judge set a $10,000 bond for Daniels after ruling that prosecutors have probable cause to charge him with aggravated assault.
