Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Economic Opportunities Commission will offer the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program for people needing help with electric bills.
EOC will offer summer LIHEAP beginning Tuesday, July 5, until funds are depleted. Applications will be taken from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, July 5-8. Starting July 11, EOC will resume the regular schedule Monday through Wednesday from 8 a.m. to noon or until the first 40 applicants are seen. All applications will be accepted on a first come, first served walk-in basis.
The program will be conducted in Jefferson, Grant, Cleveland, Arkansas and Lincoln counties. This summer portion of LIHEAP is for electric bills only.
Applicants for LIHEAP assistance must meet income guidelines. For a household of one, the monthly countable income is $1,533. For each additional person in the household, add $471. To apply for assistance, applicants should bring a copy of the gas and electric bills, Social Security numbers, proof of monthly income and dates of birth for all household members. Additional information may be required during the interview process. Failure to provide verification requested may result in delay or denial of assistance.
