Entergy Arkansas is investing $2.1 billion dollars across their territory between 2015 and 2017 in generation, transmission and distribution improvements to the state’s electrical infrastructure. In fact, throughout the year, projects are taking place in every county where the company does business.
Many times, distribution operations coordinators make strategic decisions to beef up support with an organized effort to address the needs of the customers. That’s what happened on three different days when 42 linemen and servicemen brought 16 bucket trucks to Pine Bluff and Sheridan. On a typical day, two construction crews totaling 11 men manage the work load but this converging of servicemen totaled more than 700 man-hours when teams came from Helena, Stuttgart, McGehee and Warren to these locations:
Petty Rd., Pine Bluff Little Creek Rd., Sheridan
Whiteside Rd., Pine Bluff Highway 167, Sheridan
Highway 81, Pine Bluff

“As part of an ongoing proactive program to inspect our facilities, we determined targeted improvements to replace equipment, switches and devices could increase the reliability of the electrical service for customers in these locations,” said Charles McGhee, Entergy Arkansas’ customer service representative serving Pine Bluff and Sheridan. Reliability upgrades included: replacing poles, replacing insulators and removing ground from primary zone. These reliability investments totaled $100,000 and were completed with no safety incidents.
