Movie makers from the Ozarks Foothills Film Festival and instructors from the Arkansas Arts Guild will work with youths ages 13-18 from military families in June as part of the Arkansas Operation: Military Kids Movie and Arts Camp.
Enrollment is now open for the camp, which will be held at the C.A. Vines Arkansas 4-H Center near Little Rock.
Movie and Arts Camp begins June 2 at 9 a.m. and ends June 6 at 2 p.m. with a red carpet event for families and Operation: Military Kids supporters. There is no charge for military children to attend camp, but there is a $10 T-shirt fee.
Military families from all branches of service may enroll their children by Thursday by going to www.kidsarus and clicking on the dog tags. There are instructions for online registration, or, call Maureen Rose, Operation Military Kids director, at 501-671-2066.
Other projects include creative writing, production of a radio program for “Tales of the South,” a nationally syndicated radio program broadcast from the Starving Artists Cafe for NPR; story quilts; and performing arts projects. Campers will also participate in recreation activities and camp Olympics.

“This really is an exciting camp,” said Maureen Rose, Arkansas 4-H military liaison, who coordinates Operation: Military Kids in Arkansas. “Not only will the campers be able to work with professionals in the field, but they’ll also learn skills that will help them into adulthood.”
Military families are invited to enroll children age 13 – 18 for the 2012 Arkansas Operation: Military Kids Movie and Arts Camp.
