Election commission to offer voting explainer

The Jefferson County Board of Election commissions will host an orientation at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 12, at the election center, 123 S. Main St.

The event is “in an effort to generate confidence in equipment and procedures and dispel misinformation voiced by certain individuals,” according to a press release from board Chairman Mike Adam. Each candidate in the March 22 runoff election can send two representatives.

The focus will be on the checks and balances and internal controls that provide a complete audit trail of all transactions on each machine. Also covered will be equipment programming and setup, election day operation, closing, reports and operation of election reporting manager.
