The Jefferson County Board of Election Commissioners has announced three polling site changes for the March 1 primary/non-partisan judicial elections.
The changes became necessary when two sites were no longer available and a third became unacceptable, according to a press release. Commission Chairman Mike Adam said, “the new locations offer better access and sufficient parking in addition to two being more centrally located to voters.”
Pine Bluff Ward 1 voters who previously voted at The Pines mall will now vote at Grace Temple Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St. Adam asked voters to avoid driving or parking on any grass areas at this polling site.
Pine Bluff Ward 3 voters who voted at Matthews Memorial at West 20th Avenue and U.S. Highway 79 will vote at Highland Baptist Church, 1320 S. Peach St.
Pine Bluff Ward 4 voters who voted at the Labor Temple on West Hoover Street will vote at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 32 School St., in the Dollarway Road area behind the school ball field.
The Swan Lake Community Center polling site at 15014 Arkansas Highway 88 South will be reopened on a trial basis for 2016 elections. It was consolidated with the Altheimer poling site because of low voter turnout; but community leaders believe population growth will sustain retaining this location.
All affected voters will receive a post card notification about the change and a sign will be posted on the door of each relocated polling site on Election Day.
