Early voting begins Tuesday for the primary election runoff

The Democratic nomination for Jefferson County judge is among races to be decided in a runoff June 12 and early voting for the runoff begins Tuesday at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

The May 22 primary election ended with several races going into a runoff. Locally, candidates are:

Jefferson County judge

Ivan Whitfield and Dutch King, both Democrats. The winner will face Republican Ted Harden in the general election Nov. 6.

State Representative District 10

Dorothy Hall and County Judge Mike Holcomb, both Democrats. The winner faces Republican Charles Roberts of Rison in the general election.

U.S. Congress, District 1

Scott Ellington and Clark M. Hall, both Democrats. The winner will face incumbent Republican Congressman Rick Crawford.

U.S. Congress, District 4

Gene Jeffress and Q. Byrum Hurst, both Democrats. The winner will face Republican nominee Tom Cotton in the general election Nov. 6.

Constable, Vaugine township

DeShawn Bennett and Bryan Beasley, both Democrats.

Early voting for the runoff will be held Tuesday through June 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the county clerk’s office of the courthouse. The runoff election will be held at polling places from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 12.
