A Dumas man was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Arkansas Highway 54 Thursday night.
A preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police said Larry Morgan, 60, was westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and the 2010 Chevrolet he was driving left the roadway, struck a culvert and an iron gate post.
Morgan was taken to Delta Memorial Hospital at Dumas where he died.
Trooper First Class Keon Thompson reported the weather was clear and the roadway dry when the accident was reported at 10:15 p.m.
The death was the 70th reported so far this year on the state’s highways.
