The Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. invites all to a discussion about issues in the black community at 3 p.m. Saturday at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Henderson-Young Business Building.
Shades II: Black in America will allow attendees to share important information to make the community better, make new connections and learn more about one another.
Topics will include social media and its effect on the community, racial profiling and whether the justice system is failing the black community, and professionalism and issues that are encountered in the workplace.
Featured panelists include Pine Bluff Assistant Police Chief Ivan D. Whitfield, Arkansas District 17 State Rep. Vivian Flowers, Network for Student Success Director Kareem Moody, Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families Director of Government Affairs Tamika S. Edwards, J.D., Clinton School of Public Service MPS Candidate Melvin Clayton, and UAPB Interim SGA President Shreka Shaw.
The event will be moderated by Kymara Seals with a special presentation by John “Black” Proctor.
