The Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission has approved an application for an Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Historical Marker in Drew County, ACWSC Chairman Tom Dupree announced Wednesday.
The marker, sponsored by the Col. William F. Slemons Chapter 977, United Daughters of the Confederacy, will commemorate the Confederate troops recruited in Drew County and will be located at the Drew County Courthouse in Monticello.
To date, 94 markers in 54 counties have been approved statewide. Marker applications are available at www.arkansascivilwar150.com/historical-markers/markers.aspx
