Dollarway succeed at AP test

Eight seniors from Dollarway High School recently took the COMPASS test at Southeast Arkansas College in an effort to receive concurrent college credit for their Advanced Placement English class.

As a result of taking the COMPASS, half of those students now qualify and will receive the concurrent college credit after successfully completing AP English, Principal Jeff Spaletta said in a news release.

The college credit is equivalent to three hours of a freshman-level college English course and is transferable to any college or university in the state.

The total number of seniors enrolled in AP English is 20, 16 of whom now qualify to receive college credit. Sabrina Threet is the senior AP English instructor.
