The Jefferson County Arkansas Community Foundation recently rewarded the Dollarway High School Dance Team with grant funding to initiate the Cardinals Soar Higher Program.
Through this initiative the members of the Dollarway Diamond Dynasty Dance Team will sponsor self-esteem workshops, fund uniforms for the team, inform peers about eating disorders and body image issues, promote healthy eating and wellness and circumvent teenage pregnancy in the community.
The dance team is a part of the Dollarway High School band program, under band director Vickie Liddell and dance sponsor Leaundra Sanders.
The team recently received top honors at the Philander Smith College TKO Dance Battle. After receiving Grand Champion trophies in each category of the competition, the young ladies beat out Little Rock Central High School to become the Battle Champs of the South.
