Dollarway community plans school meeting

All Dollarway area residents are invited to the Dollarway Community Schools Summit from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Robert F. Morehead Middle School, 2602 Fluker St. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

The summit will provide a framework for in-depth planning and coordination with the Dollarway community and Dollarway School District, according to a press release from 4th Ward Alderman Bruce Lockett of Pine Bluff.

“This year, the Dollarway School District has been selected by Rural Community Alliance to launch a Community Schools Initiative,” he said. “This project will help bring together all parts of the Dollarway community to create a strategic plan that will support our students and schools.”

For several months, students at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and volunteers have canvassed neighborhoods in Pine Bluff, Wabbaseka, Sherrill, Tucker, and Altheimer to collect surveys from residents. Residents shared their views on how they hope to move Dollarway forward, he said. Surveys are also being collected at churches, businesses and community events.
