Doctor dead of apparent self-inflicted wound

A doctor from Little Rock died Tuesday as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Jefferson County.

Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley identified the man as Dr. Konstantin Gubrij, 37, of Little Rock, who was pronounced dead at 1:36 p.m. by Deputy Coroner Eric Belcher.

Sheriff’s Department spokesman Maj. Lafayette Woods Jr. said a motorist was northbound on Interstate 530 at about 11 a.m. when he saw a gold 1998 Toyota Forerunner that was pulled off the interstate on the Gravel Pit Road exit. She said the driver’s head down as if he were texting.

Woods said the motorist went on and when he returned at about 12:45 p.m., he saw the same vehicle and decided to investigate, then called 911.

No further details were available Wednesday.
