Editor, The Commercial:
I read with great interest this morning, the library board is considering a millage increase for 2016. I have been a patron of the library system for a number of years.
Recently, my wife called to donate several dozen books. To our astonishment, they were not interested. They would take a “few but not a box of books.” All of these were in excellent condition, including John Grisham hardback books.
I realize that accepting books can create a headache. Many will be unusable, but there are volunteers whom, I am sure, would be willing to go through books and send to recycle, those not acceptable.
Why should residents accept a millage increase when the library is so careless with our money?
