The White Hall School District has approved the purchase of two new Thomas Built buses expected to arrive by the end of this school year.
The district will acquire a 77-passenger bus for $125,228 and a 14-passenger bus for $115,917. Superintendent Gary Williams said the district’s maintenance department has done a good job maintaining its current fleet of buses.
Tracy Samples, the chief financial officer for the WHSD, reported that the district had an ending balance of $9,474,036 for December 2024, an increase from the December 2023 ending balance of $8,001,841.
Williams was granted a certified contract extension through the 2025-26 school year. Special education director Haleigh Herring was granted a certified contract addendum for 2025-26 and assistant bookkeeper Nicole Ross was given a classified contract addendum to take effect immediately.
Bradley McCann was hired as a bus shop assistant, retroactive to Dec. 16. High school math teacher Holly Robinson issued a letter of retirement, to take effect following this school year, and district bus driver Monique Coop resigned as of Jan. 6.
