District begins registration for wells, relifts

Jefferson County farmers and landowners should be aware that registration for wells and relifts used in 2014 to divert water began Oct. 1 and will end March 1, 2015, according to the Jefferson County Conservation District.

All water users are required by law to register their wells and relifts each year. The fee is $10 per well or relift and will be collected during registration.

The Jefferson County Conservation District is located in room 2114 in the George Howard Jr. Federal Building, 100 E. Eighth Ave. The office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
