Subway holds off Angels
Lee Moore hit a solo home run and score two runs, and Torey DeShazier threw three straight strikeouts to close the door on the Pine Bluff Angels in a 9-6 Subway victory Thursday at Eddie Bryan Field.
Subway, of the Dixie League, was led by R.J. McGregor’s four RBIs and 2-for-2 hitting, Wyatt Jones and Nic Anderson’s two runs each and Reece Huffty’s RBI. Todd Cox struck out two and allowed two hits in two innings to get the win for Subway.
For the Angels of Senior Babe Ruth Baseball, Brandon Wade scored two runs and stole a base.

Achilles tendon threatens Mallett’s CFL season
HAMILTON, Ontario — Former Pine Bluff High and Arkansas-Pine Bluff star Martell Mallett may miss the CFL season with a torn Achilles tendon he suffered during training camp with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, the Winnipeg Free Press reported, citing a source.
Mallett was looking forward to his first season in the league since 2009, when he was named Most Outstanding Player. He then spent time with the Philadelphia Eagles, Cleveland Browns and New York Giants, but never made a regular-season game roster.

Two Hogs place in top five of NCAA decathlon
DES MOINES, Iowa — On day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships, the Arkansas men’s track and field team added 10 points to its total with third- and fifth-place finishes in the decathlon by Kevin Lazas and Gunnar Nixon, respectively. Through six events scored, the Razorbacks are in second place in the team standings with 16 points. Additionally, Duncan Phillips qualified for the final at 1,500 meters and the 4×400-meter relay team moved on to the championship race.
In women’s action, Makeba Alcide of Arkansas is seventh through the first four events of the heptathlon, and the Razorback 4×400-meter relay team qualified for the finals.
Razorbacks’ season tickets now on sale
FAYETTEVILLE — Season tickets for the 2012 Arkansas football season are now on sale to the public.
The Fayetteville season ticket package starts at $300 and features six games: Jacksonville State on Sept. 1, Alabama on Sept. 15, Rutgers on Sept. 22, Kentucky on Oct. 13, Tulsa on Nov. 3 and LSU on Nov. 23. The Little Rock season ticket package, worth $120, includes the Sept. 8 Louisiana-Monroe and Oct. 27 Ole Miss games.

Heat force Game 7 behind James’ 45 points on road
BOSTON — LeBron James scored 30 of his 45 points in the first half and the Miami Heat avoided elimination in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals with a 98-79 win over the Boston Celtics.
The series now shifts to Miami for Game 7, to be played at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
James also had 15 rebounds. Rajon Rondo led Boston with 21 points.
