Three Hogs make Maxwell Award watch list
FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas quarterback Tyler Wilson, running back Knile Davis and wide receiver Cobi Hamilton were placed on the Maxwell Award watch list.
The Maxwell Award has been awarded to America’s most outstanding collegiate football player since 1937. This is the second year for Wilson and Davis to make the list.
Wilson is the only Razorback ever to be named first-team All-SEC quarterback and holds nine school records. Davis, who missed all of the 2011 season due to injury, was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2010. Hamilton set a career high in receptions with 34 last season.
Armstrong’s lawsuit against USADA overturned
Lance Armstrong filed a lawsuit in federal court Monday morning and asked for a temporary restraining order against the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, alleging that the 12-year-old organization and its chief executive have engaged in an obsessive, unlawful and meritless campaign to strip him of his seven Tour de France titles and ruin his legacy. The lawsuit was overturned.
In an 80-page complaint filed in the U.S. District Court in the Western District of Texas, Armstrong alleged that USADA and CEO Travis Tygart don’t have the jurisdiction to attempt to charge him with being a central player in a massive sports doping conspiracy, yet have done so while violating his constitutional rights, breaking the organization’s own rules and possibly breaking federal laws.
Armstrong asked the court to enjoin USADA from enforcing a Saturday deadline that Armstrong either accept USADA’s proposed penalty — a lifetime competition ban and the loss of his seven Tour titles — or contest its charges through what the lawsuit claimed was a corrupt adjudication process “rigged to ensure that it cannot lose.”

MIAMI — Heat guard Dwyane Wade on Monday underwent surgery on his left knee and is expected to be ready for training camp, the Miami Herald reported.
The procedure lasted 20 minutes with the objective of eliminating swelling and discomfort. He chose surgery over vying for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.
Lawyer: Peterson was victim, not aggressor
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has hired Rusty Hardin as his attorney.
Hardin, who recently defended Roger Clemens against charges of lying to Congress about performance-enhancing drug use, said in reports that Peterson was a victim during his Saturday morning arrest in a Houston dining and entertainment area and not an aggressor. Peterson was arrested on a charge of resisting arrest.
Peterson reportedly pushed an off-duty police officer after being asked to leave. During a scuffle with the offer, it was reported, two other off-duty officers stepped in and placed Peterson under arrest.
