Optimist qualifier registration ongoing
Registrations are still being accepted for the Arkansas District Optimist Junior Golf Championships qualifying tournament, presented by Simmons First Bank.
The tournament is open to boys and girls ages 10-18 and will be flighted according to age. It will be played Saturday, June 1, at the Pine Bluff Country Club.
Winners in each flight will qualify for an all-expense paid trip to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships, held in July at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. The Optimist is one of the largest junior golf events in the nation with more than 650 players from around the world.

Armstrong holes in one
Andrew Armstrong sank a hole-in-one on No. 9 at the Jaycee Golf Course.
Armstrong used a sand wedge on the par-3 hole from 115 yards out. Gene Stewart and Tony Washington witnessed the shot.

NBA board votes to keep Kings in Sacramento
DALLAS — The NBA’s Board of Governors voted Wednesday to keep the Kings in Sacramento and rejected Chris Hansen’s planned relocation of the franchise to Seattle.
The vote was 22-8 by team owners, commissioner David Stern announced.
The Maloof family, current owners of the Kings, had agreed in January to sell a 65 percent share of the team to a group led by hedge fund manager Hansen and Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, who were looking to move the Kings to Seattle and rename it the SuperSonics. The Board of Governors followed an April committee recommendation to stop the Kings from relocating.
Stern said the Maloofs have the right to retain ownership of the franchise instead of selling the team, but the commissioner said it’s likely the Maloofs will make a deal to transfer ownership to businessman Vivek Ranadive and said he’d like to see it done “as soon as possible.”
