Delta Sigma Theta plans Black Lives Matter forum

The Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. will host a Black Lives Matter Community Forum at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16.

The event will be at Bethany Chapel Church, 1923 S. Olive St. It is free and open to the public.

“The community forum will highlight cultural and social etiquette skills and provide practical advice for how to respond when encountering law enforcement,” according to a news release.

Participants will also discuss laws about illegal drugs, alcohol, texting while driving and sexting.

Panelists include: Circuit Court Judge Alex Guynn, Pine Bluff Police Police Chief Ivan Whitfield, Assistant Police Chief Hosea Thompson and Kimberly Boyd, vice president of the Student Government Association at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

The event is sponsored by the Distinguished Gentlemen Committee with tri-chairs Ora Reynolds, Nicolette Laurent and Cassandra Smith. Kelly D. Bryant is the president of the Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter. Details: pbadeltas.com.
