Delta Sigma Theta Inc., to present Jabberwock 2012

The Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., will present “Jabberwock 2012,” a talent and variety show, at 7 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center Auditorium.

This year’s theme is, “My American Idol: Saluting Our Area’s Youth Talent.” Family and friends are encouraged to attend for a power-packed evening of talent and excitement, performed by young people of Pine Bluff and surrounding areas.

Pamela Smith, KATV’s Channel 7 Weekend anchor and co-host of KATV’s “Good Morning Arkansas,” joins the Jabberwock 2012 event serving as emcee.

The idea relevant to the “My American Idol” theme is to challenge students to perform talent of renowned classic or traditional American artists of their own choosing such as The Supremes, Whitney Houston, Boyz to Men, Michael Jackson, Shakira, and Justin Beavers. The sorority is calling on middle school, junior high, high school, and college students to participate. The sorority has searched and located talent from across Jefferson County and beyond, encouraging the students to enhance their potential for greatness by competing in this upcoming event.

Teachers and community leaders have submitted the names of students to the Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. From these submissions, the Jabberwock Committee has selected youth to audition and interview for participation, forming our extraordinary talent lineup for this exciting event. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the most inspiring performances selected by five Jabberwock judges.

In addition to entertainment, Delta’s Jabberwock event holds a definitive social, cultural, and educational value. Collaborative group effort among fellow students, improved leadership abilities, project research, and creativity are key ingredients as students prepared for this Jabberwock production. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority takes great pride in honoring Arkansas’ youth, with an offering of admiration and encouragement for courageously unveiling their God given talents.

Admission for the event is $10 for tickets in advance and $12 on the evening of the event. Tickets may be purchased at Fathers and Sons Clothiers, Thomas Groceries and Gifts, Novel ’T’s, Flowers Pediatric Clinic, Sheilah’s Design, or from any member of the Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
