Organizations from the Delta regions of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi will convene from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the Lake Village Expo Center in Lake Village for the inaugural Delta Health Initiatives Program conference.
Participants will meet to discuss current health challenges and identify opportunities to work together to improve the health of citizens in the Delta. Speakers include Andy Allison, Arkansas Medicaid director; Ruth Kennedy, Louisiana Medicaid director; David Dzielak, MD, Mississippi Medicaid director; Congressman Rick Crawford (R-Ark.); and Chris Masingill, Delta Regional Authority chairman.
The Delta Funders Road Tour, a partnership between the Arkansas Community Foundation, the Carl B. and Florence E. King Foundation, the Walmart Foundation and the Arkansas Department of Human Services Division of Community Service and Nonprofit Support, will be on hand to provide attendees with an opportunity to meet representatives from each foundation and learn about potential grant opportunities.
“This conference will provide organizations from around the Delta with the opportunity to find out who else is out there and what they are doing,” Ray Hanley, president and chief executive officer of the Arkansas Foundation for Medical Care, said. “Our hope in bringing these organizations together is that they can find new ways to work together and strengthen their efforts to impact their communities and improve the health of all Delta residents.”
Seating for the conference is limited. For more information or to attend the conference, email Cathy Bain at cbain@afmc.org.
