Clarence Davis has announced he plans to run for Ward 4 alderman on the Pine Bluff City Council.
Davis is running as a Democrat in the March 1 primary.
“I have great concerns for the direction our city has been moving towards for many years and I would appreciate your support in helping me to change it,” Davis said in a press release.
Davis listed his goals as:
1. Helping to rebuild a positive reputation for our city;
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
2. Helping to rebuild relationships with outside businesses in order that they may take another look at our community to invest for our future generations;
3. Helping to rebuild a positive environment so when our children receive their life skills, they will be willing to either remain in this city or return to this city in order to invest those skills here and in essence make this city once again “Positively Pine Bluff.”
“I believe we must have a clear vision as to what needs to be accomplished in order to secure a positive environment for our future generations,” Davis said in the press release.
Davis graduated from Hattiesburg High School in Mississippi. He received a bachelor of science degree from Mid America Bible University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He studied at Bay Ridge Christian college in Kendleton, Texas, and received another degree from Living Word College in Hattiesburg.
He is a member of Family Church of Pine Bluff, where he and his wife serve as Life Group leaders, deacons and elders. He serves on the Jefferson County advisory board for FBT bank and mortgage and also served as a Pine Bluff Lighthouse Charter School board member.
The Ward 4 alderman seat is currently held by George Stepps, who has announced he will not seek re-election and will instead run for county treasurer. Justice of the Peace Bruce Lockett has announced he is running as a Democrat for the Ward 4 position.
